Cop System

This page is solely used as a write-up about the cop system, for planning out exactly how/what we want to do in the cop

Ranks

We'll stick with what we have had in the past, being:

  • Cadet
  • Officer

Undercover police

Possibility of undercover police? Maybe with a black nickname?

Requirements

WIP - needs to be checked against current tow truck requirements.

Website

Online theoretical test consisting of 10 questions, only accessible once with a password/token, and a maximum time limit of "?" minutes. More than "?" correct answers for passing and then being able to take a practical test with a cadet trainer.

Speed Cameras

Fixed speed cameras around each track. Speed cameras will remain functional as long as one cop is on-duty.

Margin
Use the speed implemented in the insim for those streets + 7% margin.

Mobile Speedcams
Additionally, since speed cameras would be functional, allow the placement of mobile speed cameras. Turn on by command and turn off by command or by moving away. The speed limit would be set automatically using the same logic as the fixed speed cameras.

Can be mapped into track json.

have em on as inactive speed cameras unless coppers are on

further thought, make them interactive so players can turn them off - by driving to one and toggling it off with a command (when 2 or more cops are on) nd for the coppers to have to turn them back on by driving to the cam that was turned off - put the player who turned it off as wanted for a certain amount of time

would be a fun minigame between cops and robbers long term, instead of a constant fine machine (wont nerf just pvl but everyone if they were on at all times lol)

Checkpoint Command

Add a checkpoint command to do license/insurance/job_deliveries checks consists of speed bump + row of cones.

Pitstops

As of writing this @ 17th of april 2026 - towtrucks have 50% off for pitlane and pitstops.

It is planned to create some sort of pit stop voucher system, where a player can store free pit stop vouchers after a chase or tow call.
Trello Ticket

Allow free pitstop for cops. Ideally only after a chase.

Other Notes

Condition: If condition is higher than "?", count as job?
Siren: On-screen SIREN text for people nearby a cop or in an active chase.
Casino/bank heists: Requires at least two officers and one cadet. T-B-D.
Roadblocks: Define in the rules

Bust Panel

I didn't play much as cop in the last insim that speedas made, but i remember in the classic povo insim - the bust/fine panel was really nice. Where the cop only had to tick (checkbox) on each offense and they would add up to a total fine. This was really simple and the cop wouldn't need to do any math to figure out an amount.
